Are You A Label Reader?

Are You A Label Reader?

Are The Vitamins You Rely On Made in A Laboratory or Nature?

Most health-conscious consumers are avid label readers.

We’re looking for those hard-to-pronounce, artificial ingredients… but we’re unknowingly consuming them daily anyway.

That’s because some - like vitamins - are often replaced by synthetic variants.

Vitamin E is one to watch out for...

The synthetic version (dl-alpha tocopherol) is often used in cheaper skincare products. The other, the so-called ‘natural’ vitamin E (d-alpha tocopherol), is also common, but not exactly safe either on its own...

Synthetic vitamin E does not come from plants and is generally derived from petroleum products.

It’s very unnatural for two core reasons:
  1. It’s the isolated form without the rest of the Vitamin E complex. A plant-sourced vitamin E always includes seven other compounds – three other tocopherols and four tocotrienols.

  2. Supplements and creams often include an abnormal amount of Vitamin E isolate, out of balance with the normal compound mix.

Some studies suggest that synthetic Vitamin E may be linked to health issues.1

Turns out, you also need less REAL vitamin E:

1 mg d-alpha-tocopherol (natural vitamin E) = 2 mg dl-alpha-tocopherol (synthetic vitamin E)2

Even the process for isolating Vitamin E so it can be re-added to our face, hand, and eye creams is concerning; it usually involves drying plants quickly with high heat levels, chemical extraction, and destructive grinding.

Some companies that claim to naturally extract Vitamin E feed synthetic fertilizers to yeast to artificially speed up the growth cycle, then break down the compound.

Some sources suggest that synthetic vitamins have been linked to itchy skin, irritation, and rashes.3

Isn’t that exactly what we’re trying to avoid when nourishing our precious outer layer?

Sunflower seed oil contains 6 times the amount of natural vitamin E as Olive Oil.

That’s why we recommend you try this oil yourself and see.

  • It’s the Vitamin E complex as Mother Nature intended.
  • You need far less to see results.
  • It’s never been heated or chemically extracted.
  • Produced with organic sunflower seeds.

We hope you’re a label reader, just like we are here. Watch out for those modified, poorly sourced vitamins Mother Nature never intended us to use.

There’s no substitute for getting Vitamin E straight from a plant!

Thank you for being part of our mission for natural, healthy skincare.

And as always, be well!

With Love,
Kriss and the Akasha Beauty Team 💖
